Time for me to retire. Here's a little song I put together to say goodbye.
Cozumel Dives - August 2020
Переглядів 704 роки тому
A compilation of what we saw on ten dives of Cozumel reefs in August 2020. Because of the pandemic, we were diving alone most of the time, but we were joined by Alex from Barcelona and Luke who tap dances on Broadway for a few of our dives. Please correct me on anything I've misidentified.

How to keep Melitta Java Jig prongs from breaking
Переглядів 2,7 тис.8 років тому
I've read reviews of the Melitta Java Jigs complaining that the prongs break off and the filters become useless. Here's my simple trick for keeping that from happening. As you can see in the video, it even works for ones that only have a couple of prongs remaining, but if I had done this from the beginning, I have no doubt my Java Jigs would still have four prongs. Also, please enjoy the melodi...

So that's why they call them frog dogs!
I CAN'T stand that chirp waking me up EVERYDAY in the morning...😡
The spirit of true UA-cam. Old, short, low resolution but very entertaining videos :)
That was amazing... I am right there with you in every way except the retiring part - LOL
Bravo!!!! I hope you can stay busy! Happy Retirement!!!
Well done an Way too funny. Just ordered a Oribit 62000.
That's an original IEE floor indicator. Rare to come across on elevators today
Thank you! I thought it was really interesting and seemed out of place in a modern hotel, but it speaks for the quality of the original device.
lmao
That dog is cool
too funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is very cool , here in Jamaica we call them Jamaican Nightingales and they are known for their determination to protect their nests.
Just had this happen today. How aggressive! I was out health walking and this fairly small to average sized bird hit me in the head and attacked me all the way up a street. It was ceaseless and completely non afraid. It would take aim from a distance and not waver even with me throwing and flailing fist in the air at it. Completely determined. I've never encountered this before. Had to get completely away from that block before it stopped. A bit strange and unnerving I'd have to say. However a bit funny.
Oh, wow! Yes, they do get very protective. Sounds like you kept your cool and just got away from its territory. I wonder if you'll see this one again...or will you change your walking route?
@@ltturner I walked near there the other evening to see how it might go and there came the little kamakazee full speed ahead! Lol. Yeah, I will likely take the other street for a while. No big deal.
It's happening to me right now. Four dive-bombs today, two made contact with the back of my head. Fascinating, I'm enjoying this.
They're definitely territorial! Even if they make contact, though, it's unlikely they'll cause harm.
@@ltturner I have nothing but respect for the bird. He or she is just trying to protect the nest. These birds are obviously very intelligent. The experience is truly fascinating, as I said. And great video, thanks.
@@Bill-uo6cm I'm sorry if I sounded like I was chiding you! I think you and I have the same response to this behavior. They're protecting their young. It's just that some people are terrified of being touched by a bird, when, in fact, they can hardly harm people at all. Here's to the protective mockingbirds! :-)
@@ltturner Not a problem. We all need to view the natural world from a wider perspective. These extremely minor intrusions into our lives should be treated as opportunities to marvel at the wonders of nature. Too much of life is one big blur. Stopping to admire these little birds as they risk their own lives to protect their young was a pleasure. And believe it or not, I am probably not the only hard core conservative Republican who feels this way.

Can't win 'em all, huh? My air rifle begs to differ!
Breathing a sigh of relief for the little guy. 😆
Holly, look at bird bath
Very Satisfying
While running the string trimmer, I inadvertently killed one nesting in the ground and now I can't go outside without being attacked by the mate.
Oh no! I'm so sorry that happened. Of course you never meant any harm.
thanks good to know as I have purchased this item thanks!
Great video. Keep up the good work!

....made me giggle! 🤣🤣
This just happened to me in Brooklyn NY can these things harm you
Mockingbirds are notoriously territorial when they have a nest nearby. They often swoop down close to people and squawk loudly, but they rarely touch people. Don't panic or swat at them, just keep walking and ignore them. They're protecting their nest and will leave you alone when they see you're not a threat.
Nice dog
Aww. I have a pair nesting outside my front door now, and the babies yell "eee!" for food like non-stop all day! The parents work tirelessly to feed them though.... they haven't attacked me, but they do watch me outside and when I open the windows. :)
Good way to get rid bird poop.
I hate mockingbirds with a passion. I especially hate their babies with their high pitched squeaking all day, all night, every ten seconds.
0.44 "Double kill!"
COME ON!!!🤣
Do u need to keep it there permanently or do they learn to stay away after a while?
No, you can move it around. There's a stake that you push into the ground. All you need is a garden hose that will reach that location. It uses batteries for motion detection. Hope that helps!
From what i know Bulldogs bark when they want attention not aggression.
I remember back when this came out and I got one of these, the good old days
I had a blast watching the pigeons get sprayed!
I've noticed over time the prongs tend to bend and it makes it difficult to put the filter on evenly. Now that I've seed your video, I'll give it a try. I think the hot water makes the plastic flexible and as a result it bends.
Set it a tad higher ;)
yah it spay my cats in my yard and livingroom my cat is bad
Will the java jig work in a keurig K425 or will I have to do the sensor trick by adding a colored dot to fool the K425? Can you recommend a good reusable carafe filter?
Hi, Ken. Sorry, I just saw your message. I'm afraid I can't help you with the Keurig question. When they started the sensor shenanigans I chose to buy another brand.
I don't have this problem, however, I like pre-forming the filters since they're flat. I don't have two JaveJigs, but have discovered that those little cups that come with liquid cough medicine and such work great! Just cover the green cup with the filter, like the video, then cover it with the medicine cup, because it's a bit larger. Thought I'd pass this tip along.
My prongs have started to break off too I'm going to try your method!
Kinda reminds me of what I went through living at another house. Mockingbirds were chasing me. Swoop in, flutter their wings behind my back, and sit on a tree a couple of seconds later mocking me.
Great video. They love there bark box. I have liked and subscribed. Would love it if you checked out our channel. We do fun Bark box reviews too :)
Most awesome crack encrusted kneecap devastation EVAR!!!!!
Would this work on raccoons ?
Sam Bur It would. In fact, raccoons are bigger and would set it off more reliably. Good luck!
That was beyond painful to watch. What quad was murderd
billy van zyl It's a Syma X5C and it survived both the brutal attack and my poor piloting skills. :-)
Awesome. I am sure your skills will improve. Not long from now you will be getting inspire or something in the 450 range. Happy and safe flying
Glad you claimed the video rights back! What site did they post it on?!
It was break.com. I don't know if they still do the contest, but back in the day they awarded $400 for videos that were voted to the front page.
Ha ha I truly love this video. Very funny. Can't wait to do the same to some pesky cats in my yard.
I'd love to see a hand come up and give to cat a shove... Watch it scream & thrash all the way down. Hahaha
Oh brother!
Ha! So glad you've enjoyed it! I don't know if the Scarecrow sprinkler will work with finches. They're awfully small. It will help with other garden pests, though, like rabbits or cats. Let me know if you line up Wallace and Grommet! :-)
LOVE LOVE LOVE your video - it's hilarious!!! First saw this on Gizmodo years ago; STILL cracks me up big time. And now I find I actually need this device; finches are eating our veggi garden sprouts before they can really take hold and grow to produce vegetables. It's this sprinkler - or Wallace and Grommet. LOL
Nice invention!!!! Loved it!
